"Musical Legends"

When exploring millinery (the process of hat making), I chose to replicate a collection of hats worn by famous "Musical Legends" - Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Elton John. Each of the hats created followed different methods of millinery; buckram/sinamay blocking, felt blocking and flat pattern drafting. With the exploration into each of these methods, I am now able to approach making hats and head pieces openly with reflection of my millinery experience.

The buckram hat was based upon the leopard print piece worn by Beyonce, with a coordinating leotard and thigh high boots, during her On The Run II Tour 2018. The felt hat was based upon the hat worn by Lady Gaga on her Joanne album and whilst performing during the Joanne World Tour 2017/18. The flat pattern hat was based upon the bubblegum pink flared top hat during one of Elton John's stage performances in Circa 1974, playing his bejewelled piano.
