Glorious!

A 1950's Interpretation of the 2005 Peter Quilter Stage Production

As part of research into the historical changes of fashion through significant eras I chose to design the range of characters used in Peter Quilter's 2005 Stage Production of 'Glorious!', specifically Scene 1, which features each of the characters, following the famous fashions and trends used in the 1950's. My designs followed traditional fashion of he different working classes as this had a significant effect upon the different characters in the scene. Each final design was produced as a result of development of initial ideas to result in final designs using Windsor and Newton ProMarkers, BrushMarkers, Fine Liners and Coloured Pencils.

The characters I designed for included; Florence Foster Jenkins, Cosme McMoon, Maria, St Clair Byfield, and Dorothy. Alongside the final designs of the characters, I produced hand drafted complete working technical drawings for each of the garments included in the designs as well as appropriate fabric swatches.
